Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-05-16

HACKB is in a Public Preview phase and these terms may be revised. Any material change will be announced via the release notes.

1. Application

These terms apply to every user of HACKB (the "Service"), the black-box optimization online judge operated by us. By using the Service you agree to be bound by these terms.

2. Account registration

Some features of the Service require an account. You are responsible for providing accurate and current information and for keeping your credentials safe. A single user may not register multiple accounts. If you become aware of unauthorized use of your account, please notify us promptly.

3. Rights to submitted code

You represent that you hold the rights necessary to submit any code you upload to the Service (the "Submission"). Copyright in your Submission stays with you. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and analyze the Submission to the extent necessary to operate, improve, and analyze the Service.

4. Prohibited acts

You must not: violate laws or public order; infringe the rights of other users, third parties, or us; attempt to escape the judge sandbox or attack our infrastructure; attempt to obtain or extract hidden objective functions or hidden test data; impersonate others; or disrupt the operation of the Service. We may suspend accounts and invalidate submissions that breach these rules.

5. Service availability

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without prior notice. We are not liable for any damages users or third parties suffer as a result.

6. Disclaimer

The Service is provided as-is. During the Public Preview phase you may experience data loss, scoring errors, failed submission runs, or recalculated rankings. We do not warrant the completeness, accuracy, usefulness, or fitness for a particular purpose of the Service.

7. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms when we deem necessary. The revised terms take effect upon being posted on the Service. Continued use of the Service after that constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

8. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance over any dispute arising in connection with the Service.
